General Overview

SilverCity Web Services is not a business, it is not a hosting centre and is not profit making. It's only aim is to help other bowling clubs like VBC and SHBC to reduce the cost associated with the hosting of their club website, this can be done by using a shared platform and the more bowling clubs that join us the cheaper it gets for everyone.

Your current webmaster who looks after your website will liase with the hosting provider and SilverCity Webs to tranfer your website, email accounts and domain name to the new hosting platform. Once your website is completely tranferred your webmaster will have access to the cPanel for configuration and update of website pages, email accounts, ftp accounts and other addons as required. Using the Let's Encrypt free SSL security offering, which will be managed by the hosting company via their auto-renew application, your webmaster will not have to think about renewal date reminders from free SSL certificate providers which are required to be manually updated evry 3 months, the auto-renew application on the hosting platform takes care of this.

If your domain is not using SSL, then your website will be shown on most, if not all, web browsers as NOT SECURE. Whilst you could argue that SSL is not needed as a bowling club is not a business, it is well documented on various articles on the Internet that it's a must have security option and indicates SECURE to those who are visting your website.

The hosting package is easily upgradeable should it reach the capacity level of storage requirements or a sizable number of bowling clubs wish to join our alliance. There will of course need to be a level of trust between the various bowling clubs but... as they are not business related or even competitive with one another, except on the rinks of course, we feel that the attraction of reducing costs more than benefits all of us, particularly in these unprecedented times, which we all hope will be over sometime next year?
